MINAB and Urban Lexus Launches the Beacon Mosque Project

The Beacon Mosques Programme aims to develop and increase Mosques and Islamic organisations' infrastructure, governance and confidence through providing training to key individuals in management committees, particularly Imams who can play their role in influencing not only committee members and their congregation but others in the community.

Trainee Imams and Mosque committee, Chairs, Secretaries and Treasurers are also encouraged to take part.

The programme will assist Mosques to achieve the MINAB standards:

Standard 1: Members apply principles of good corporate governance,

Standard 2: Members ensure that services are provided by suitably qualified and/ or experienced personnel,

Standard 3: There are systems and processes in place to ensure that there are no impediments to the participation in the activities, including governance, for young people,

Standard 4: There are systems and processes in place to ensure that there are no impediments to the participation in the activities, including governance, for women,

Standard 5: Members ensure there are programmes that promote civic responsibility of Muslims in the wider society.

This programme's objective is to increase the type of leadership that will enable the Mosques to develop as hubs for spirituality and social action.

For this programme, we are targeting Mosques in London.
