London Consultation
MINAB is carrying out a consultation, to identify feasible and practical solutions to improve access to information about Mosques, and address barriers to participation and decision-making.
On Sunday 20th February 2011 from 11am - 2pm at the Muhammadi Trust.
The workshop will cover the following:
- Inclusion and Exclusion
- What are the needs of the community from the mosque?
- What are the needs of the women from the mosques? What information/data is needed and how can it be assessed
- How do they feel left out? Why do they feel left out? What do they say is the cause of their distance?
- How could women affected feel that they were part of the community? What would give them a sense of belonging and recognition?
- To what extent are these needs being met or not met and what are the reasons?
- Understanding the Barriers
-
- What can we do realistically to increase participation?
- What resources do we need to do the work?
- Who can help, do we have the support from key people?
- Are the right people at the table?
- What other support is required?
- Development Plan Whole Group Discussion
- What are the specific goals and expected outcomes?
- What are the criteria for success?
- Developing the plan for increased participation – Who Needs to do What
- What still needs to be done?
- Who will assume responsibility for implementation?
- How will success be measured?
The findings and recommendations emerging from the consultation will be compiled and presented in a toolkit, for a wider audience of Mosques and Imams to benefit from.
We would like to welcome all segments of the community, women, management committee members, Imams, young people, to attend the consultation.
