The MINAB General Council Which Met In Birmingham On 10 May Elected The Executive Board

The MINAB General Council met in Birmingham on 10 May 2009 to elect its Executive Board.  The elections were carried out under the supervision of an independent Election Commissioner and his team.  The voting and counting process was overseen by independent observers and media had access to the counting room.  

The following individuals were elected to the Executive Board:

Total 50 out of which at least 20 percent are women and 20 percent are from the Shi’a Muslim communities.

The Executive Board then met to take oath of office and to elect the office bearers of the MINAB.

The Executive Board adjourned on 10 May to meet again on 9 June 2009 to complete the process of Board appointments. In that meeting the Board will decide on inter alia co-options to ensure that the membership of the Board meets the aspirations on inclusivity and diversity set out in the Constitution. The agenda of that meeting will include the approval of operational plan and standing orders.
