Women's Consultation - Muhammadi Trust

london3On Sunday 20th February, MINAB carried out a women’s consultation at the Muhammadi Trust in London to identify feasible and practical solutions to improve access to information about Mosques, and address barriers to participation and decision-making.


 

 

 

The workshop covered the following:

•    Inclusion and Exclusion
o    What are the needs of the women from the mosques? What information/data is needed and how can it be assessed london_2
o    How do they feel left out? Why do they feel left out? What do they say is the cause of their distance?
o    How could women affected feel that they were part of the community? What would give them a sense of belonging and recognition?

•    Understanding the Barriers
o    What can we do realistically to increase participation?                        
o    What resources do we need to do the work?
o    Who can help, do we have the support from key people?

•    Development Plan Whole Group Discussion
o    What are the specific goals and expected outcomes?
o    What are the criteria for success?
o    Developing the plan for increased participation – Who Needs to do What?
o    How will success be measured?

londonAttendees came from all segments of the community, women, management committee members, Imams and young people to attend the consultation.
