Women's Consultation - Muhammadi Trust
On Sunday 20th February, MINAB carried out a women’s consultation at the Muhammadi Trust in London to identify feasible and practical solutions to improve access to information about Mosques, and address barriers to participation and decision-making.
The workshop covered the following:
• Inclusion and Exclusion
o What are the needs of the women from the mosques? What information/data is needed and how can it be assessed ![]()
o How do they feel left out? Why do they feel left out? What do they say is the cause of their distance?
o How could women affected feel that they were part of the community? What would give them a sense of belonging and recognition?
• Understanding the Barriers
o What can we do realistically to increase participation?
o What resources do we need to do the work?
o Who can help, do we have the support from key people?
• Development Plan Whole Group Discussion
o What are the specific goals and expected outcomes?
o What are the criteria for success?
o Developing the plan for increased participation – Who Needs to do What?
o How will success be measured?
Attendees came from all segments of the community, women, management committee members, Imams and young people to attend the consultation.
