MINAB Statement on Climate Week

climateThe Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board calls on all Mosques and Imams to mark the occasion of Climate Week to renew our ambition to combat climate change.

Climate Week will shine a spotlight on the many positive steps already being taken in communities across Britain.

Maulana Shahid Raza OBE Chairman of the MINAB said:

“Together we have to take responsibility and lead by example through action and ensure long-term and positive steps are made.  Mosques across the UK will be marking climate week through sermons on Friday prayers and events. Mosques and Imams can play a unique role by increasing awareness about our duty to the environment and by putting into action the 3 R’s - reduce, reuse and recycle.”

Mosques and Imams are able to reach millions of homes, thousands of businesses, charities and schools to act during the rest of the year.

The Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board has produced a leaflet to raise awareness which has been circulated to Mosques in the UK, and has called for Mosques to raise awareness through sermons, events, Madrassahs and community activities.
