Conference on Youth and Women Engagement in British Mosques

The Mosques & Imams National Advisory Board with the British Muslim Forum have organised a revolutionary conference on

"Effectively Engaging Young People and Women in Our Mosques"

Date & Time: Sunday 8th May 2011, from 12pm till 4pm

Venue: Nawaab Banqueting Suite, 1008 Stockport Road, Manchester, M19 3WN

The main aim of this conference is to launch the Mosque & Youth engagement toolkit and to share findings of the National Consultation the MINAB has undertook on women pariticipation in Mosques.

Toolkit and guidlines contain key findings from a number of workshops held in over 20 mosques and Islamic centres throughout the country to ascertain reasons for lack of participation in our mosques as well as share some best practice models which have been discovered.

In summary the toolkit has important recommendations, which if implemented, can go a long way in turning our mosques into more effective Islamic institutions that are vibrant, engaging and real community hubs.

Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad will speak on the topic of Youth Engagement and launch the toolkit on Mosques & Youth Engagement, produced by Qari Muhammad Asim, the Imam of Leeds Makkah Mosque.

Other guest speakers include Maulana Shahid Raza, Chairman of the Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board and Sr Saba Khalid a writer and broadcaster.
